As soon as everyone arrived at the airport, we loaded our large tour bus and started to explore the city. Sao Paulo is a very big city...even bigger than New York City. It is the one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the world with over 11 million people. Our first stop was the Municipal Market. The building is huge (see the first picture). It also has some beautiful details like this stained glass. The third picture gives you an idea of what the market looks like on the inside. You can buy just about any fresh food item that is available in Brazil here. Restaurant owners come in the morning to stock their restaurants. People come at midday to eat at the many food stands and restaurants. In the evening, trucks stock the market for the next day. It smells kind of fishy from all the fish.
There is a picture of cow legs in a showcase below.
There are also pictures of the many different kinds of beautiful fruit aviailable. The fruit that is being held is the fruit of a cashew plant. You can see the shape of the cashew at the top. If the cashew is not picked, it will grow into this fruit.
As we were driving to the market, we noticed many streets in a row that had bridal shops. Brazil has organied their town. All of the same type of stores are housed in a common area. We saw at least 30 bridal shops in a row. We also saw lots of music stores together. After the market, we loaded the bus for the next adventure
